all i want is to lift her up
out of the perpetual suffering
and into freedom

because her spirit is one of endless creativity
her imagination is like a lightning storm that
strikes in my mind and leaves wondrous shapes
emblazoned inside my closed eyes

but her future is being told for her
every day
and she bears it
because though she doesn't believe it
she believes it
and resistance is dirty
and not sopheap

if you resist
if you so much as try to stake your claim in humanity
you are a whore
you are a bad mother
you are stupid
you are filthy
you are unmarriagable
you bring shame on your family
you don't deserve to be treated with love or kindness
you belong with animals
you deserve to be raped
because after all,
you're asking for it

she has much more patience than i do
because she is asking for it:
"treat me with respect,
treat me equitably,
treat me like a human being,
because i am a thinking, feeling, loving entity,
can you not treat me like one?"
she asks, and patiently waits,

where i storm...

i am
one
step
away

from the mytho-femmes who live in caves and have snakes for hair,
who turn men to stone,
or sing them off their ships and watch them drown in the sea as my pastime

i must take a lesson from her
because as much as i want to lift her out
she is lifting me out, too.

We've got some September weather here in October. Played Frisbee under the lights at Vet Med in your honor before the Lions won on Monday Night Football to go to 5-0 for the first time since 1956. Tigers lost game 2 to the Rangers in the ALCS. And Delvon Roe retired due to injuries.

I can only tell you these things in English and they aren't very funny. I hope your b-day was happy though :)

What was the story?

about your disciplined disregard for speed limits; they wanted to know how it is that police haven't "caught you". i told them that you were a race car driver in a past life-- and that you're the only person i know who has successfully outrun pigs. ^_^

that is a phenomenal idea about the sports team! wow, i am MISSING OUT.. :P

I hit 105 yesterday driving back from Dekalb, IL (Jessica's temporary home West of Chicago) trying to make it back on time for frisbee :)

Hopefully by the time you visit, co-ed-ultimate frisbee will hopefully be a team sport at MSU forever, and you can visit our 3 times a week games whenever you're in Michigan :)

Looking forward to seeing you next year. Missing you in the mean time.
